What is the differences between a Managed Private Server and dedicated server?

The Managed Private Server is a managed hosting platform. On the day you receive it, the MPS has the latest version of all key software with all security patches installed. As time goes on, we assure that core software components such as the operating system and Apache web server remain up to date. Mid-level software, such as PHP, Perl, and MySQL, will never be upgraded "behind your back" since such upgrades can disrupt your web site. Instead, you can upgrade these at your convenience with a simple vinstall command. Dedicated servers are unmanaged; all updates and patches are entirely your responsibility.

Can I restore a file from backups?

You can from Hen's Teeth Network's backups. Most other hosting companies do not allow you to recover a lost file from their backups.

What limitations are placed on email? How many messages can I send?

Since your MPS runs its own copy of sendmail and has its own email queue, there are no artificial limitations placed on your email. You are free, of course, to configure sendmail to restrict message size, number of messages per hour, etc., but these decisions are solely up to you.
