Profits Plus adds several features to PDG Commerce, significantly enhancing Commerce's usefulness, your ability to draw traffic into your store, and your ability to close sales. Pricing

Pricing includes installation and configuration so you do not need any special PHP or HTML or SQL skills. Theming Profits Plus pages to match the appearance of your site is not included. Theming Profits Plus pages does require at least a knowledge of HTML and CSS. HTN can do the theming work or you can do it yourself or have your designer or developer do it for you.
There is a surcharge of $100 for installation or upgrade on a server that does not support ssh (secure shell access). All HTN hosting accounts support ssh.
Profits Plus upgrades are priced at $25, regardless of the number of modules being upgraded.

The Profits Plus SEO Package adds search engine friendly features to your PDG Commerce store including:

• URLs that are product or category-specific, short, and clean, e.g., http://www.hens-teeth.net/product/Profits-Plus-PDG-Commerce-Add-On/ECOM-PROFITSPLUS instead of http://www.hens-teeth.net/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=ECOM-PROFITSPLUS
• Page titles containing product and category descriptions
• Meta description and meta keywords tags on each page with product-specific/category-specific descriptions and keywords

The Profits Plus SEO Package includes consultation and training so that you have full control over the internet marketing aspects of your PDG Commerce store.

The Profits Plus Dynamic Menu 2 module builds a left navigation bar based on your PDG Commerce categories and subcategories. As you make changes in the PDG categories, the menu changes automatically to reflect those changes. This module is smart enough to suppress display of a category or subcategory if no items within it are in stock. (You can turn this inventory awareness off if you wish to allow backorders.) The Dynamic Menu also understands the linked categories within PDG Commerce v5, the new feature which lets a product appear in more than one category.

The Profits Plus Sitemaps & Google Merchant Center Data Feed module helps make your products easily findable on Google* by automatically creating both a sitemap for Google Sitemaps and a data feed for Google Merchant Center (f/k/a Google Base and f/k/a Google Product Search and f/k/a Froogle). This format of the Google Sitemap is limited by Google to 50,000 pages. Please contact us if your site has more pages than this. The module also includes a data feed for Bing. PHP programmers can extend the code to support other formats as well.

The Profits Plus Adopt-a-Cart module lets your staff help a customer shop. The customer has a cart, calls your staff for help and gives them the cart number (which is displayed for them on the "call for help" invitation). Your staff can work with the cart and then hand it back to the customer to complete the purchase or to save at their option. This is a great extra service for the customer.

The Profits Plus Artwork Uploader module allows your customers to upload graphics to your server after purchasing products which can be customized. Examples include monogrammed clothing and customer-supplied artwork for stationery.

The Profits Plus Gift Registry module allows your customers to list items desired along with quantity still needed. Each product in the list includes options (e.g., size or monogramming) and comments. Each registry has a short simple URL which can easily be shared with friends and family. In addition, the Gift Registry module allows shoppers to search for registries and allows registrants to send a message, through your web site, to their friends and family.

The Profits Plus Wishlist module allows every logged-in customer to build a list of desired products including comments and options (e.g., the correct clothing size or the desired color). Each wish list has a short, simple URL which can be easily shared with friends and family.

The Profits Plus Advanced Searching/Advanced Dynamic Menus module allows you to construct complex search forms or links (including menus) to tightly focus on specific products. For instance, with Advanced Searching you could display a list of denim shirts in sizes 6 or 8 which are on sale for under $20 (assuming, of course, that your store has material and size information in its database). The Advanced Dynamic Menu feature, combining the power of Advanced Searching with the behavior of Dynamic Menus, allows you to build menu systems which are much more complex than supported by a normal category/product hierarchy, such as:

Unlike the menu built into PDG Commerce and the Profits Plus Dynamic Menu module, menus constructed with the Advanced Dynamic Menu module do not need to follow the category and subcategory structure of your store.

The Profits Plus Product Editor module gives you a way to readily edit the basic PDG product information without driving through all the pages in the PDG Commerce Administrator for each product. Table-based and easy to use, the Product Editor presents product data and options for editing. Edits are made live to the PDG Commerce database. This is a real time-saver for folks who need to edit products often. Does not coordinate with QuickBooks POS.

The Profits Plus RSS Feeds module allows you to publish rss feeds of newly created products. You can create any number of feeds by adding category and/or keyword parameters to the basic feed. This is a great way to keep interested folks updated on changes in your inventory.

The Profits Plus Base 2 module is required for most of the other Profits Plus modules. The Base 2 module provides configuration settings and establishes the communication with the PDG Commerce database that many of the rest of the modules rely on.

QuickBooks Point of Sale

Profits Plus "understands" QuickBooks Point of Sale (QBPOS) in several key ways. Perhaps most important, all of the modules will only display the "main" item and not each individual style of the item. For instance, if you sell tee shirts in small, medium, and large; and in red, blue and green, Profits Plus (and Commerce) will consider this just a single tee shirt item, not nine separate shirts.

If you use PDG Commerce to track inventory, the Dynamic Menu, Advanced Search, and Sitemap modules are aware of whether your products are "in stock" or not. This assures that Google only "sees" products which you can actually deliver. It also assures that your shoppers never stumble across a page of products, none of which can actually be purchased.

Requirements

The Profits Plus SEO Package requires PDG Commerce version 5 (or higher) and Apache mod_rewrite enabled within the .htaccess file. (It does not require PHP.)

The Profits Plus RSS Feeds Module requires PDG Commerce version 5 (or higher).

The Profits Plus Product Editor requires PHP 5 with the MYSQLI extension.

Profits Plus requires PDG Commerce version 4 or higher, MySQL, PHP 5, and a UNIX-like operating system such as FreeBSD or Linux. Profits Plus does not run on Microsoft Windows or with Microsoft SQL Server.

Most Profits Plus modules require JavaScript in the customer's web browser.

Please note that some Profits Plus Modules (notably Sitemaps and Dynamic Menus) can place a significant load on your server because they may need to check the inventory status of each product. If you have thousands of products in your store, you will need a server with adequate power to run the modules. We do not recommend our smallest Cirrus servers for such situations.

Underlying Technology

Profits Plus is implemented in PHP 5. Displayed pages, e.g., search results, are formatted with the Smarty template engine. We provide full source code, allowing PHP programmers to make any modifications desired.

All DHTML is implemented on top of the Yahoo! User Interface Library (YUI). This provides a robust, well documented and well supported framework that web designers can use to perfectly match the new menus with the rest of your web site.
