As my three year anniversary arrived at Hen’s Teeth Network, I look back at where I started and where I am today.
I started working full time for Hen’s Teeth Network in February of 2006. Before that I did contract work for Art and he was my hosting provider for my small web business.
Since Hen’s Teeth Network is an Internet company it only makes since that we work from our home offices. Art in St. Charles MO and I was in Memphis TN.
Each morning we call and do our morning check in and go over the tasks for that day. It is a great opportunity to work from home. Saves transportation cost, coffee anytime you want it and the dress code is, well you get the idea. Working from home does have its challenges. You can’t have the anniversary cake in the break room, you learn to talk more to your pets and they even seem to talk back sometimes, yikes.
However one of the best things I discovered was, your office can be anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. That was a big deal for me in the summer of 2007. My wife got a great job opportunity in El Paso, TX. Yes, I had to look it up on a map too. Since my youngest child was going away to college and my boys were already away from home, it was a nothing that a moving truck would not fix. So Labor Day weekend 2007, I loaded up the truck and moved to El Paso. Eighteen hours later and two dogs that were on drugs made it to that west Texas town of El Paso.
Have an ISP, will travel.
